Mini-course ·Lesson 4/ 5
Files that live: quotes, follow-ups, calendar
1 min
A CRM that is filled in but isolated always ends up empty again: if the quote is made elsewhere by copying the record, if the follow-up depends on the salesperson's memory, the tool becomes a report again. Lesson 1 showed it: people fill in what serves them.
The three connections that change everything
The quote starts from the record. Name, details, amount: already entered. The quote is generated from the file, and sending it moves the stage forward on its own. One entry, several uses: the end of the re-entry that wears teams down.
The follow-up prepares itself. The next-step date (lesson 3) is not decorative: when the day comes, the salesperson finds their follow-up list for the day, with context. No more remembering, just calling. And a follow-up that no longer depends on one person's memory is a follow-up that goes out even when they are on holiday.
The meeting lands in the file. A booked meeting must appear on the record without copying, and a past meeting must leave a trace. Otherwise the history lives in three calendars and can never be pieced together.
Where to start
Not all three at once. Pick the connection that hurts most today: in most teams, it is the follow-up. Many tools handle it natively; when two tools need to be connected to each other, that is exactly what a system is for. It is what we build, but this course stands on its own without us.
This week: follow one quote end to end and count the copies (record → quote, quote → invoice, agreement → production). Every copy is a connection to build: that is your priority list.
