Hosting
The physical place where your tools and data run. The useful question: with whom, in which country, and in whose name?
Every piece of software runs somewhere: a server, in a data centre, at a hosting provider. “The cloud” is just that: someone else's computer. Hosting is the choice of that place.
Three useful questions for a business owner: in which country does the data live (the applicable law depends on it)? in whose name is the server (yours, or a provider's who can hold you back)? and who can access it? Our answer is constant: your data in France, on a machine in your name. Useful the day of an audit, an inspection, or a sale.
